10. James Rodriguez – €79.8m
James Rodriguez is number ten on our list. He achieved this after an impressive 2014 world cup which saw him win the golden boot and also help his team to reach the quarter-finals. After one year at Monaco he arrived at Real Madrid for a fee of €79.8m which made him the most expensive Colombia transfer ever. He is the third most expensive player for Real Madrid behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale who are also in the list.

After an incredible final year at Liverpool which was him win the English golden boot and helped Liverpool to qualifier for the champions league in a while and also come close to the Premier League title in 2013-2014, Luiz Suarez became a target for many clubs in the 2014 transfer window. Barcelona would eventually snap the talismanic striker for €82.3m, after being handed a four-mouth ban for biting an Italian defender while representing Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He also scored 118 goals for Manchester United. Before La Liga giants Real Madrid offered a then world-record fee of €94m for the Portuguese.

Another record fee of €100m from the La Liga giants Real Madrid gave Tottenham no option but to let Gareth Bale go to the Santiago Bernabeu.
